SCCS-Bengaluru 2025

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) constitutes a large green campus. In order to commute within campus, most students use free transportation provided by the institute to get from point A to point B. Please see below the available options for you to avail to reach the SCCS-Bng 2025 Conference Venue - JN Tata Auditorium during the conference days.

Commute within IISc:
  1. Transvaahan Service (E-rickshaws):
    A free e-rickshaw service, “Transvaahan”, operates along fixed routes within the campus. Each vehicle accommodates up to 4 passengers.
    Timings and route map can be accessed by scanning the QR code.
  1. Recommended Routes:
    1. Blue Line: It is the most convenient way to travel between D-Gate (12) (Biological Sciences Building) and Maramma Circle (1).
    2. Orange Line: It runs between the Underpass (1) and Sarvam Complex (11). Participants staying at Hoysala Guest House may alight at Nesara Restaurant (between stops 8&9) and walk to Hoysala.
    3. Green Line: It runs between the IISc Main Gate (1) and the Centenary Visitor’s House (CVH) Gate (11), passing by the Hoysala Guest House (4) and the Super Bazaar (7) along the way.
    4. Purple Line: It starts at the Security Office (1), passes in front of the Super Bazaar (6), and continues to the CVH Gate (8).
    5. Red line: It starts at IISc Main Gate and crosses Nesara Restaurant (3), Sarvam Complex (5), to reach Biological Sciences Building (7) and D-Gate (8).

Please use the campus transport map to locate the routes and stops of all e-rickshaws within IISc.

  1. Key Gates and Locations:


    1. The gate closest to J.N. Tata Auditorium is Maramma Circle Gate.
    2. The gate closest to the Centre for Ecological Sciences (CES) or Biological Science Building, Biochemistry, and Physics Department is D-Gate.
    3. There are 4 ATMs available on campus: State Bank of India (SBI): 1, 2 and Canara Bank 1, 2.
    4. Within the IISc campus, facilities include: one restaurant (Nesara), two food canteens (Sarvam Complex and Kabini), and one supermarket (Super Bazaar / Janta Bazaar).

Commute between National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and IISc:

  • A free shuttle bus service operates between NCBS InStem Gate and IISc.

Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) Guest House, Jalahalli - Transport
(for Delegates staying at IAS):

  • Morning Departure (to JN Tata Auditorium):
    Four buses, arranged by SCCS-Bng 2025, will depart each morning as follows:
  1. Day 1: 6:50 AM
  2. Day 2-4: for Bird/Tree walk participants - 5:50 AM, others - 6:50 AM

  • Evening Return (to IAS):
    Buses will return after the conference sessions at 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM.

  • Please be punctual. Buses will leave as scheduled, and missing one may cause delays in your commute.
