The Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) – Bengaluru was founded in 2010 by a group of like-minded individuals passionate about encouraging young minds around the country to explore the science and practice of biodiversity conservation. The conference is a multi-day event designed to facilitate interaction among diverse members of the Indian conservation science community and encourage exchange of research ideas, technical knowledge, and experience related to conserving wildlife and natural ecosystems. To date, the conference has involved the participation of around 5650 students.
The conference is designed for young researchers pursuing studies within conservation and allied fields, including (but not limited to) ecology, evolution, environmental science, resource management, geography, economics, and social sciences.
If you are currently an undergraduate or graduate student, post-doc, or early career professional in a conservation or allied field - in the natural or social sciences or their intersection - we wish to hear from you.
SCCS-Bengaluru 2026 is a four-day, in-person physical conference that includes workshops, plenary talks, student poster and oral presentations, and activities to facilitate networking, providing an introduction to numerous national and international institutions and organisations involved in conservation and associated research. Of these, the plenary sessions scheduled each evening are open for. All the sessions are targeted at student capacity-building to aid their conservation careers.
SCCS-Bengaluru 2026 will encourage conservation-related work by students and researchers from Asia and Africa, although registrations to the conference are open to those across the globe.
SCCS-Bengaluru is a sister conference to the more historical SCCS-Cambridge, which was founded in 2000 as the first, conference solely aimed at students. The conference family now includes SCCS-Bengaluru, SCCS-NY, SCCS-Australia, SCCS-Beijing, SCCS-Hungary and SCCS-Nordic.
